Stereo Recordings

"Must the Winter Come so Soon" was recorded with mezzo-soprano Emily Harmon for her audition reel.  Audition recordings are great because we record in a low pressure environment where you can do as many takes as you'd like and pick the best one(s) to send off for competitions or admissions packages.

"The Farmer's Cursed Wife" was the closing song from Matt Corcoran's Master's Recital.  This recital was performed in a large church, so I wanted to focus on Matt and not have him get lost in the room.

"El Muñeco Dormilón" was from a fantastic Master's Recital I did for one of my friends, Frankie Mosley.  This was his closing piece, a cute song about a young buy who is not too bright and loses his pants.  This was recorded in the intimate space of the Marshall Room at Boston University and I aimed to capture that intimacy with these recordings.

Recently I did a DMA chamber recital for a fantastic countertenor, Bryan Pollock.  This was the opener to his recital.  Each instrument was period correct, and it was great to record those instruments.  My focus for this recital was to make sure each person performing had their own space in the recording so you can hear them individually, as well as a group.

"If I Aint Got You" was recorded in UMass Lowell's recital hall for the UML all male a cappella group, Hawkapella.  This piece was one of their arrangements from the Fall 2012 concert.  The guys were looking for a recording that captured all the voices and parts together as one, but with the ability to pick out each subtle nuance from the individuals in the group.

"Regrets and Resolutions" was recorded in 2013 as a submission for a concerto competition.  Also recorded in UMass Lowell's recital hall, this recording focused on capturing the phrasing, dynamics, and musicality this piece requires in performance.

Multitrack Recordings/Mixes

"Smolder" is a multitrack production that was recorded in UMass Lowell's senior studio by the band Ethics.  Everything from which microphones to use and microphone placement to strategic performer placement in the acoustic space was decided by Alyssa.  This song was also mixed by Alyssa in the same studio for final senior project.

Also a multitrack production recorded at UMass Lowell, "Earwig" was the second track played by Ethics for Alyssa's final senior project.

For Alyssa's junior project, a sound-a-like project, she decided to recreate "California Dreamin'" by the Mamas and Papas.  This track is played by a handful of performers, picked to sound as close to the original as possible.  In the mixing process, Alyssa fine tuned those sounds again to make the whole song sounds as close to the 1966 single as possible.  From the tape hiss (played beautifully by some white noise) to the 12 string guitar, all the details are there.
